This app, blackbody Tool, determines radiant properties of blackbody emitters. It can be useful for astronomers, physicists, other scientists, engineers, students or educators, who work in areas such as IR or optical prediction and/or measurement.
Results are immediately available and easily obtained. For example, to change the unit for temperature only takes one tap.
You can select the units for each of three parameter categories:
1) temperature in: Kelvin, degrees Centigrade, degrees Fahrenheit, or degrees Rankine;
2) wave-related: wavelength in microns (µm), wavelength in nanometers (nm), wavenumber in inverse centimeters (1/cm), or frequency in teraHertz (THz); and
3) power-related: in watts or in photons/second.
Results are obtained for the chosen blackbody. These can be modified by both an emissivity and a recessional velocity to adjust for red (or blue) shift.
Spectral radiance is plotted (and may be printed) for any specified wave band.
No on-line access is required. All computations are done locally on your iOS device. There are no hidden costs or in-App purchases. And, there are no ads.
